This is my sisters iPhone. The phone died (due to low battery), she charged it in the car to download an app (successfully), died again in 'a' store, once back at the car she tried to charge it in the car again. The charger itself was "piping" hot. She got home, plugged in the iPhone to her wall charger, it did show the 'low battery' icon, this went on for 45 minutes. After all this she tried everything to turn her phone on. Finally, that brings me here, typing this.I have tried numerous things to attempt to fix this. What should I do?

Could have been that the iPhone was draining more power than it could charge. Leave it connected to a wall charger for a bit should allow it to boot back up. Alternatively, you can also try holding down the power and home buttons. What happens if you plug it to iTunes?

Left on charger for an hour, nothing yet. iTunes - It will not recognize the device.

Were you using an official or certified Apple charger?

Certified. Later it was then plugged into a official one for an hour.

Does it even show up in the C drive? Computer makes no noise if you plug it in via usb?

I checked that too, nothing once again. The computer doesn't react at all when I plug in the iPhone.

See if you have another charger lying around to test. Overheating charger is not normal.

Sounds like the battery is shot go to Apple and get it diagnosed. But I'm pretty sure it's shot and needs a battery replacement should be free under warranty
