It has nothing to do with that. You have a higher success rate to get the pokemon when the catching circle is as small as possible. sometimes it is pretty difficult to estimate the distance to throw. Wasting few ultraballs in a row really hurts

And sometimes you want to habe your hand free for something else and not just holding the phone und throwing pokeballs
