If you are on 5.x.x you can root your device in many ways, if you want, create a topic and ill explain it to you

How about 6.x.x?

You can root a 6.x.x device but marshmallow fixes bugs every 2 weeks, im getting lot of updates from them, this conclude that 6.x.x is buggy. Thats why im gonna soon flash a custom rom.

Once you root your device you'll not get any update of software or just install custom rom , custom rom is stable , fast and lightweight

nope you are wrong, you will get notifications about software update even if you are root, dude i was getting these update and my little brother unfortunately gave it and im back on marshmallow

I rooted my device and never get any update notification

Make sure you turn off the update option from setting > about > updates

I suggest you to install a custom rom

I'll give you the links of custom roms for note 4
