Same here. Unlocked fine but no quest line started.

I didn't need a new code also which was a pleasant surprise. My Spider-Man quest line currently has a 8 hour task but I had that before installing the new mod update.

Maybe they added some hack detection? If you end up without anymore event quests let me know.

It seems to work fine for me. Got a few quests with spider man. Unlocked spider mans workshop and photo lab along with daily bungle. Doesn't seem to be wrong at all

It says shards is required but it's actually free.
