Help/Support I want to learn how to hack my game save. Can someone walk me through it?(Total Beginner)

Hey, I only recently learned how to hack Ios games using already existing game saves made by other people. I would like to learn how to make my own game saves so I'm not limited to what is available, can get coding experience and know how to duplicate ex.

So far I know how to get to the files for an app and extract them using iTunes and Ibotbackup then replacing them with hacked files and I've spent the last few days practicing that.

The game I would like to start with is the sims freeplay. I would like to learn ,if possible (which I'm assuming it is as there are already hacks to do this) to hack my already existing save to add in game currency.

As I said I know how to extract the files for the game but beyond that I'm clueless

So to get started I have a few questions,

1. After exporting several of the game files with Ibot I opened them in notepad to see if I could locate the values referring to the in game currency. Sadly I know nothing about the language the files are coded in and to me notepad was only showing a wall of foreign symbols. Is there a program that can interpret the files information in a more user friendly manor that I need to view/edit different values within app files?

2. I am aware that even with a proper program the values are not likely to be clearly labeled, for ex. line 7, lifestyle points, current value 10 . This might fall into place with #1 but how do I know which value/s to edit in which file/s?

3.This might also go along with # 1 might not, but while browsing this site I have come across tutorials for hacking with hex editer, Ida and mobile substrate. What is the difference between this methods? Does each game have a specific method to hack it or does it come down to an individual's preference? if its the later how to find out which method a game uses?

4. The game save hack I downloaded for freeplay has files which do not have counterparts within the freeplay backup folder. It was the same with the hack I downloaded for another game, kinectamils unleashed. When I installed these extra file to kenectamils the app would freeze at the Microsoft splash screen every time I turned it on. I deleted and reinstalled the app then installed only the hacked files that had counterparts in the unhacked backup folder and the app loaded all the way and the hack works 100%. So what the purpose of these extra file if the hack doesn't need them to work and they can mess up the app?

I should add that my Ipad is not jailBrocken and I'm not comfortable going their just yet.

I know this questions are noodish but as I said I'm a beginner, I'm also an eager learner.

Sorry I don't think I was totally clear. I know how to apply existing hacks to apps. I want to make my own.

You should use iFile since you're a beginner.

Now, for currency and other mods for simple games such as Unity-powered 3D games like the cheap hit game Occupation VR, all you need to do is edit a .plist file. These types of hacks are some of the easiest to do, which is also applied to some big name games like Real Racing 3.

All you have to do is navigate to the game files (this is the path for the game mentioned above as an example: /private/var/mobile/Applications/E6CF7014-462D-4D36-940E-AFF15BDE6E3F/Library/Preferences/com.the3daction.occp.plist). Your .plist file would be labeled similarly as the game's name, not the one labeled PeoplePicker.

Tap on that file, and it will list you options on how to open it. Tap on Property List Viewer, it'll be WAY easier for you to hack because you know what values are you changing.

I will post a tutorial of the hack later, so stay tuned.

DifterDan, I downloaded Ifile just now, unfortunately the instruction said my device has to be jail Brocken which my iPad is not.

Use iBackupbot to get the files.

It depends on the game tho, take the files from /library/preferences and Documents

You already know where the game.sav documents and plist files are. Next your just trying to find a good hex editor/binary. I'm in the same situation as you currently, especially with a non-jailbroken device. Been trying to find the right program as well, and trying to find out where the "extra" hack files go, especially with limited programs using a non-jailbroken device.
