Edit (single player):

sometimes it work, other times it send me back to the village with the message that I need more troops (even when I have trained the max allowed)

 

When it works:

I see only the soldiers I have actually trained but they are unlimited 

 

When it doesn't work (get sent back to the village), I see I have all the soldiers slots filled, included those powerful ones accessible only at higher levels...

 

Solution (I think) - exit and re-enter the game...  and don't exit from battlefield - when asked "no soldiers, battle anyway", choose "yes". Unfortunately this only works for awhile as the coins and essence gets filled up and you need to spend them away...

 

Also, when I enter battle, the various battle points along the path are not shown - instead the path (including the battle points) are changed to images of swords.
