I think they can do it. The game updates once a week. So all they have to do is update it once a week. The foundation of the game hasn’t changed since launch.

I don't think the issue is frequency of updates. I think that they patched the vulnerability that allowed the hack to work.

For games in general, they would have to rework the whole game to patch something like that. This is a server sided online game so it would be harder to patch.
