Edit: So this works. You will have to leave the date with only one heart but it doesn’t really affect you. Once you level up enough that you can go to fancier places, it’s easier to get full hearts for dates. 
 

Try out the larger date places (ie. Sydney, Santa Monica, Dubai, etc.) that don’t require you to spend money + energy as activities. You’ll easily complete future dates that way.
