2000 gems when you’re level 60+ goes quickly, and sometimes it doesn’t even cover  a single purchase 

and considering it takes probably 20 seconds to buy and a sell a single gladiator, it’s not very time efficient

you don't say ? I'm at level 70 already. and if the amount of gems increase more and more. it isn't fun anymore. too easy :).
