Help/Support Private Server for Games

How would I go about making a private server for a particular server sided game? I've looked for tutorials and stuff but haven't come up with anything. Would it be a waste of time attempting to do it? Would it be easier finding a way to hack the game specifically?

it really depends on the game and if a group of people do it. Most people would do it with donations other wise they would keep it private. other wise if you want to create one im pretty sure you need to pay for a server hosting maybe? (no expert)

Yes, you'll need to purchase a server and configure it which requires time & knowledge.
