Are you sure you're tapping the grayed out column? Lol. When you open hex edit, you'll see three major columns. One with many digits, another with two digits, and another with many digits. You are to tap the first major column with the many digits (most left side) Unless you don't have the full version of iFile or something

Filza File Manager gives you specific columns

I use both. for filza it should already be in the right forum. When you press on the left side, you enter in the offset with out the 0x in front of it. When the keypad comes up you should be able to switch to both letters and numbers.
