I want to play an MKV I have on my server, but when I try to open it as a fileshare in VLC, it gives me an error and refuses to play the file. If you need the URL, PM me.

The error is: 403 Forbidden.

I'm guessing this has to do with the auth on my server.

Can you access the .mkv on your browser?

You probably need to add a .htaccess file and allow access to the directory if you're using apache.

Yes. The file is accessible on Chrome. I have whitelisted my IP in nginx so it shouldn't be the issue. I will look into .htaccess

If you're using nginx, .htaccess is irrelevant.
