Is it recommended to create a virtual machine? Can I simply log out of my App Store and create a new Apple ID? Is there any problem since Apple will know the link between the accounts?

I did as explained. To make it work in iTunes (macOS) is pretty straightforward:
Open iTunes, Account/Sign Out and use the new account. You can merge your playlists so you don't lose your Library. Neat!

For iPhone:
Open Music app, For You (bottom tab visible when Apple Music is enabled), click on the Account (top right circle) and you can Sign Out/Sign In with the new account.
