I just wanted to jump in and confirm that this hack does indeed work for the version listed. I have been trying to find a way to use the hack (get as much money and gems as possible) before removing it and upgrading to the newer version because I really want to use the Krew feature. 

I have been able to upgrade to the newest version and keep the gems/money acquired. I noticed if you purchase too much energy at once, the server detects it and prohibits you from participating in Krews and disables that feature. I've also found that opening the gift boxes also resets the money but not the gems.

I replaced the "reset game" file with one I had saved, erased my glu ID from the data file which allows me to keep all gems/cash but doing this prohibits you to join/create a Krew despite the option being available.

Lastly, there's a file in the tmp/com/amazonaws/awskinesisRecorder folder that appears to log event actions and states: "is_a_cheater" followed by the amounts of gems and other information related to the user. I deleted that file and restricted any other files from being made in that folder. I don't know what this does exactly but just thought I put it out there for other advanced users to better decipher.

FYI: The users of the game take cheating very seriously and actually report other users.
