You don't do anything, for the most part.  Just tap on the items you want to buy, they may say $100.00, but that's just a placeholder.

i've tried that, but it has the actual prices and just says purchase failed each time i try to buy something like gems or anything

Weird.. every problem I've had with this has been a region issue which I can sometimes resolve.  But I'm in North America also, I tried loading it on a device that has never had it installed and it's working fine.  I'll see what I can do.
