this is a common issue in Palera1n, happened to me whenever i tried to JB or Re-JB but some devs told me that the rootfs is messed up and i had to restore to 15.6 since it's still signed.

Bootable ubuntu environment: Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu

Also this tutorial goes in details:

You should probably try redoing the entire process once more with this information, before that make sure you restorerootfs.

Will follow this and report back!

No password ever. Looks like I’ll do a fresh restore and then try again. I’ll see about restoring rootfs too, or is that available via the checkra1n app only?

Did you by any chance abort any steps in the jailbreak process and rerun the jailbreak? I remember some steps taking about 10 minutes, where I thought the process was stuck and I aborted the process and ran it again.
This caused my device to be a very weird state where it would not respring and show the palera1n app, while the terminal said it was successfully jailbroken.

How I fixed it at the time was by restoring rootfs with

./palera1n.sh --restorerootfs <iOS version>

After that do a fresh restore and rerun the jailbreak. Follow the steps and be patient keeping in mind that some steps can take a while.

Actually, at one point I thought it seemed frozen and so I quit and restarted. That may have done something.

Will try this command and report back!

I ended up restoring my device (it’s possible that restoring rootfs may also have the same effect if you do not want to lose your current iOS version) and re-running palera1n.sh. This time I just waited for everything to complete.

I had to manually turn on the phone after phase 1 was complete but other than that, all went well.

The device booted and I still saw no palera1n app but it respringed on my after ~30s (as mentioned in the Terminal) and the palera1n app appeared. ^_^

All is good and working now, thank you everyone for your help!

Just tried this and everything seemed to go perfect.  My device restarted on its own and resprang 30 seconds later. However, no palera1n app.

I never aborted during any steps. One quick question (it may not matter):

sudo ./palera1n.sh --tweaks <iOS version you're on> --semi-tethered

I’m on 15.4.1 but I entered 15.4 on this command.  That’s all I got…any ideas?

Try the shortcuts link another user posted.

Otherwise, it may be important that you should have specified the complete iOS version (15.4.1).
