I think you mean it only worked for an older version of the app instead?

I guess. It worked for IOS 7 but not IOS 8.

I don't think that's the issue here. The app might have gotten updated.

Checked the AppStore but no updates.

It's possible they could have made server patches also?

We can't be certain that updating to iOS 8 is what broke the hack.
