Those thang thangs help you see your opponents Arena Battle Points lol. You want to challenge people who are ~3000 points higher than your points to gain ~200 points per battle. The vortex one is the same, except it's only used for Vortex Arena Battles, which we will most likely not have for a while since we just had the Water one

 

Friend skill allows you to use the Leader skill of those who are not registered as your "friend" (mainly the ones that show 40 Honor when you select your friend)
