With Dissident you have the following options:
- Set global backgrounding off or force true backgrounding
- Choose the backgrounding method for individual applications (Off / Native / Forced)
- Auto launch apps after a respring or reboot
- Auto relaunch apps that crash or whatever
- Activator support
- Visual indication of running apps and associated background modes both in the statusbar and as a badge on the app's icon
