Anti-ban feature: Using the existing hack will get you banned every single time; first temporarily, then permanently. Suggested workarounds ("use only in career mode, not multiplayer races") don't work. The unban tutorial allows you to play again, but you have to start with a new player account, meaning that your progress will be lost.

Maybe it's sufficient to block certain Gameloft servers in the hosts file? Which could those be?

Yeah I actually got banned of it, anti-ban would be great getting me back into the game, specially in careed mode D class vs S Class is no fun.
