Is there an explanation or reason as to why in pvp, defense works against some players and doesn't for others?

Ha, this has been a VERY confusing process, but I've figured some stuff out on my own. So first: he tells you find the block of 4 values (those entire 4 blocks apparently represent 1 entire character and the next value right after those four (as shown in the tutorial) are the number of cards for that specific character. Apparently, after finding you power credits, the first block of 4 values you find you skip and then the next (after scrolling a bit) will be Ares. What was confusing is peoples values don't equal exact what's being shown so their extremely confused. Also, it turns out the numbers on the right of the character on the list should be ignored (Ex: Ares 388) and instead looks at the number on the left (Ares: 2). So Ares is located at the second(2) block of 4 values after skipping the first set like tutorial stated. Every character follows in the order listed in the list apparently, but that's a LOT of scrolling in my opinion since I want MH Flash. Hope that was helpful.

Okay, so figured out the values would different for everyone, but I'm still confused. Ares is listed as 388, but mine was under 488. Can you explain why this is as I can't locate the other characters? Thank you
