1 • Yes 2 • Fasting is pillar of Islam which makes it necessary for Muslims to do. Fasting is also done to help Muslims put into perspective how the poor may feel. However, the poor don’t have food to look forward to at Maghrib so another reason for fasting is to show that we can give up sustenance and make sacrifice for Allah.
